Thank you for the music

DJ or band? Why not both…That’s one way to stop the YMCA…

When it comes to planning the perfect wedding reception, there are many things to consider – but none are as important as getting the entertainment on point. The right music will keep your guests dancing until the wee hours; filling your evening with enjoyment and memories. There are many discussions on wedding forums about live vs recorded music; should you hire a band or a DJ? Well, here’s a cat amongst the pigeons – I say do both!

There are lots of reasons why two musical elements to your celebration can bring it to life, so if you’re stuck trying to decide which to go for on your big day, read on to see why you CAN have it all!

Musical Synergy

Live music and a DJ are wonderfully complementary; a live band has that remarkable vibe that gets people moving on the dancefloor, and when they’re ready for a break, the DJ steps up to the plate and keeps that going. A DJ can read a room and match demand, something that’s a real skill, and certainly something no iPod can replace. A well-matched band/DJ pairing will have your guests up and dancing all night long.

Using a band and a DJ gives you total control over your wedding reception

Using a band and a DJ gives you total control over your wedding reception – and is far easier than doing it yourself!

Practical Partners

A DJ and a band can share equipment, so you don’t need vast amounts of space to accommodate both. When you book me alongside Chill or Penthouse5, we work together to maximise space, which also makes the area tidier and more visually appealing (multiple trailing wires is a bugbear of mine!). My lighting creates a stunning impact too, and I’m happy to share that with any band you book. The added bonus is that neither pack down until the very end, so there’s minimal disruption to the dancefloor.

Perfect Pairings

The beauty of a band is the fact that they discuss and prepare a set list in advance; you have a hand in what songs you hear on your wedding day. This also means the DJ can prepare their playlist to complement it, so there’s no repetition.

I’ve worked with many bands over the years and have considerable experience when it comes to gelling the night together. In fact, I’ve created a package alongside two incredible Dorset bands that means you can have the best of both worlds.

Meet the Bands

Chill The Party Band

Stalwarts of the Dorset music scene, Chill have been performing their lively pop rock sets for two decades; their music always packs a dancefloor and creates an atmosphere of anticipation. Chill performed at Pegasus’ own celebration – and that’s a great testament to their talents!

Penthouse5

With a set list that will create a stampede for the dancefloor, Penthouse5 make any event memorable. From recent chart-toppers to old school classics; you’ll be singing along the whole time!

So there you have it, three excellent reasons to look at having both live music and a DJ. If you’d like to arrange a meeting to chat about your wedding and how I can help, please get in touch.

Next stop…Wembley Arena.

A big thank you to these fellow Dorset businesses for their collaboration on the photoshoot.
